Macrofiber

The darkness doesn’t scare me;

It stills me.

When there’s light around,

It fills me

With all the thoughts of other people

Hiding beneath the sheets.

I sleep soundly

After my heart stops pounding—

Whispers come to harass me

Playfully at first

Then timely

Assaults upon a broken mind,

Cracked equations,

Lost to rhyme.

They are Real, and I am not.

I am amalgamations of questions—

Contemplations at most,

But their thoughts are more complex.

Some say they shed light

On what is not yet known—

What was coming all along.

Silence is never louder than when Darkness speaks to me

Playfully at first

Then timely

Apologies for sorrow

With promises of better day afters and tomorrows,

But it never scares me.

It kills me

One dream at a time.
